Product description

QIDI BOX for QIDI Plus5: more colors, dry filament, and automatic feeding

Expand the capabilities of the QIDI Plus5 printer with automated multicolor and multimaterial printing. QIDI BOX holds up to four filament spools, between which the printer can automatically switch according to the prepared project. You can use it for multicolor models, combining model and support materials, and uninterrupted printing from a backup spool.

This version is designed for connection to the QIDI Plus5 printer and includes the appropriate accessories required for installation.

Automatic printing with up to four filaments

Four independent channels allow you to load different colors or materials into one system. Each channel has its own stepper motor, dual hardened-steel drive gears, and status indicator. The result is stable and precise feeding of standard and selected composite filaments.

QIDI BOX makes it easier to:

  • print multicolor models without manually changing spools,
  • combine model and support materials,
  • use easily removable or soluble supports,
  • automatically continue from a backup spool,
  • use up leftover filament more efficiently.

Active drying during printing

Integrated drying reaches temperatures of up to 65 °C and can operate simultaneously with 3D printing. The material thus remains in a controlled environment even during long jobs. Reducing humidity helps prevent filament cracking, bubble formation, inconsistent extrusion, and poorer print surface quality.

The current temperature and humidity can be monitored on the printer display and in the supported QIDI software environment. The enclosed space is complemented by a desiccant compartment and a manually operated ventilation opening.

Smart filament monitoring

The system monitors material flow and supports detection of filament end, tangles, and clogs. If the active spool runs out of material, QIDI BOX can automatically switch to a suitable backup spool and continue printing with minimal interruption.

Compatible QIDI filaments can be identified using NFC/RFID, allowing the system to obtain information about the loaded material without time-consuming manual settings.

Expansion to up to 16 colors

One QIDI BOX unit provides four positions. By connecting up to four units and using the separately available expansion kit, you can create a system for working with up to 16 colors or materials.

Support for technical and composite materials

Dual hardened-steel drive gears ensure durable feeding of a wide range of filaments. In addition to PLA, PETG, ABS, and ASA, the system also supports selected PA-, PC-, PET-, PP-, and PPS-based materials, as well as compatible filaments filled with carbon or glass fibers.

Specific filament compatibility also depends on its flexibility, stiffness, condition, and spool construction. QIDI BOX is not directly designed for cardboard spools; when using them, a suitable adapter or protective ring is required.

Who QIDI BOX is designed for

  • owners of the QIDI Plus5 printer who want multicolor printing,
  • designers creating multicolor models and prototypes,
  • users printing complex parts with removable or soluble supports,
  • users of hygroscopic technical filaments,
  • users running long print jobs requiring an automatic backup spool,
  • workshops, schools, and professional workplaces requiring automated material management.

QIDI BOX for QIDI Plus5 combines management of four filaments, active drying, material monitoring, and automatic spool changing in one compact device. It is a practical upgrade for more colorful, reliable, and better-automated 3D printing.
